AFRICA: FOLKLORE BECOMES ‘INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY’

Seventeen African countries have signed a protocol on the protection of African expressions of folklore. The agreement, which was signed in the Namibian costal city of Swakopmund, fulfils an intellectual property resolution passed during the seventh session of the ARIPO Council of Ministers, held in Swaziland.
