D.R.CONGO: TRUCK FALLS INTO LAKE TANGANYIKA; 58 KILLED

A truck with a full load of passengers fell into Lake Tanganyika, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing 58. Local authorities report that the vehicle was headed toward Baraka, a lake town in the Sud-Kivu province. The truck was carrying both goods and people. It would appear that 6 people survived the accident. According to a preliminary analysis, the driver, who died instantly, hit a rock and the truck tipped over into the lake.
