ENI has started production at the new Arcadia oil field in Egypt’s western desert. The Arcadia 1X well, in the historical Meleiha concession, has gone into production at the ‘Alam El Bueib’ (Lower Cretaceous) rock level, thanks to synergies with ENI’s nearby Meleiha plants. The Italian oil company has held a 56% shareholding in the Meleiha concession since 1987 via its 100% owned subsidiary IEOC, while Lukoil and Mitsui respectively hold 24% and 20%.
