GERMANY: WESTERWELLE, NO PARTNER TO HOMOPHOBIC COUNTRIES

German Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle, will not take his partner to countries where homosexuality is a crime. The Minister’s comments were made during an interview with the ‘Bunte’ weekly magazine, in which he explained that they both wanted to “promote the idea of tolerance in the world, but we do not want to court the opposite by behaving in an inconsiderate fashion”. Westerwelle added “it is important for us to live according to our own tolerance critera and to do nothing to offend those who may be less tolerant than ourselves”.
