IMMIGRATION: 12 N.AFRICANS REACH SICILY IN RUBBER DINGHY
Twelve immigrants docked at Pantelleria Island (Sicily) aboard a rubber dinghy. A local reported them to the police; they were then spotted by the Coast Guard. Their vessel was identified and seized by a port authority motor patrol boat. The immigrants are all men, and claim to be Tunisian and Algerian. They are in good health, and after being afforded assistance at the police station, they were transferred to Trapani via ferry, to then be taken to the city’s local identification center.
