ME: 1ST FRIDAY OF RAMADAN, JERUSALEM IS ARMORED
Exceptional security measures are in place around the Al Aqsa mosque for the first Friday of Ramadan. Some 2000 troops have surrounded the sacred building in the Arab section of town. They are “ready” for any event that might enfold, the Police spokesperson, Shmulik Ben Ruby, explained. Access to the mosque is forbidden to men under 50 and women under 45. Married men, ages 45-50, and married women, ages 30-45 are allowed instead.
