SPORTS: BERLUSCONI, OBAMA, & SARKOZY PHONE ZAPATERO
The world’s political leaders telephoned to congratulate Zapatero for Spain’s World Cup triumph. Obama, Sarkozy and Berlusconi all telephoned, as did German chancellor Angela Merkel and Australian prime minister Stephen Harper. Zapatero, who confessed to having cried after the game, will receive the champions at the Moncloa Palace.
