TROPICAL STORM THREATENS BATTLE TO PLUG OIL WELL

A tropical storm is approaching the Louisiana coast, threatening to delay BP’s oil spill operations. According to the National Hurricane Center the storm, passing over the Bahamas has a 40% chance of becoming a cyclone and moving towards the Gulf of Mexico where it would hit the Louisiana coast some time on Saturday or Sunday. Retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, who is in charge of the US government response to the Gulf disaster, commented: “If we have to evacuate the area… we could be looking at 10 to 14 day gaps in our lines of operation.
