USA: JOBS – 131,000 UNITS IN JULY, HIGHER THAN EXPECTED

The US economy lost another 131 thousand jobs in July, higher than the expected -65 million units. Employment in June fell by 221 thousand units (data revised from the initial -125 units) and, in May, 432 thousand units were lost (data revised from the initial -433 thousand units). The rate of unemployment (calculated on a different statistical basis) remained steady at 9.5% as against an expected 9.6% rise.
