AFGHANISTAN: KARZAI CANCELS UN TRIP TO MONITOR AFGHAN VOTE

Hamid Karzai has cancelled a trip to the UN General Assembly to monitor the outcome of parliamentary polls at home. Presidential spokesman, Waheed Omer, reported that he “cancelled his trip to observe elections and stay at home as the Afghan people go through an important political process,” following disputes about suspected fraud in last Saturday’s vote.
