A wireless sensor, to be placed under the skin to monitor blood-sugar levels, has been finalized in the USA. The University of California in San Diego came up with the device, which was used on a pig for over a year without adverse affects. A human-adapted version is expected within months.

Researchers claim the monitor could pave the way for the creation of an artificial pancreas, which will be able to gauge the exact amount of insulin needed to adjust blood-sugar levels.
