GAS: UKRAINE WANTS A FURTHER PRICE DISCOUNT FROM RUSSIA

Ukraine aims at obtaining a further discount on the price of gas from Russia. The comment was made by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov. “We aim to review the agreement with Russia as it is extremely unfavorable to Ukraine and we will try to convince our Russian colleagues”, he explained without adding further details. After Viktor Yanukovych won the presidential elections at the beginning of this year, in April Kiev entered into an agreement with Moscow, in which it obtained a 30% discount on the price of gas in exchange for the extension of the license to use of the Sevastopol Russian naval base in Crimea till 2042.
