GERMAN ‘MISTER METEO’ CHALLENGES JUDGE AS TRIAL OPENS

At the trial of the year in Germany, TV’s “Mister meteo” challenged the judge appointed to sentence the rape case. According to the lawyers representing 52-year-old Joerg Kachelmann, the judge is not impartial since he is a neighbor of the alleged victim, a 37-year-old radio journalist who for years had a relationship with Kachelmann, and is also the manager of a volleyball team of which the woman’s father is an honorary member.
