NAPOLITANO, FOCUS ON CUTS AS TOP PRIORITY

Italy’s President wants the austerity package approved by the end of July without being subverted by “other issues”. Giorgio Napolitano says that “all the political and social powers and institutions need to focus on serious and open discussion of the terms of the austerity package”.

This would be geared to coming up with a bill that would become law “by the end of July”. He added “This matter must take priority on the Chamber agenda between now and the summer break”.
