ROME PROSECUTORS PRESS G8 INQUIRY CHARGES

Rome – All seven persons previously investigated in conjunction with large-scale fraud un public tenders have had charges pressed. The announcement, made by the Prosecutor’s Office in Rome, comes in the wake of the so-called ‘G8 inquiry’ being transferred from Florence to Rome.

Charges are being brought against seven top-ranking public officials and politicians, accused of rigging public tenders in relation to construction work at the Maddalena island (initialy designated to host last year’s G8 proceedings).

The indicted include businessman Francesco Maria De Vito Piscicelli, lawyer Guido Cerruti, former infrastructure councillor for Tuscany Fabio De Santis, former infastructure superintendency president Angelo Balducci, former president at constuctors Baldassini-Tognozzi-Pontello Riccardo Fusi, his deputy Roberto Bartolomei, as well as Pdl party manager Denis Verdini. .
