NEW YORK: CHELSEA HOTEL, AN ARTISTS’ ICON, SOON TO BE SOLD
The Chelsea Hotel, residence of generations of NY artists and writers, is on sale. History and chronicle are intertwined in this NY icon, where Sid Vicious killed his girlfriend. The Sex Pistols’ bass player was just one of the many painters and musicians that lived there since the hotel opening in 1883 on the 23rd Street in Manhattan. There Bob Dylan composes Sad-eyed Lady of the Lowlands. The price is still unknown. A very recent building rehab cost almost 3 million dollars.
