LOS ANGELES – Sam Smith, il cantante soul britannico rivelazione del 2014, ha trionfato alla 57esima edizione dei Grammy Awards, vincendo quattro premi, anche se Beck ha inaspettatamente conquistato l’Album dell’Anno. I superfavoriti, Beyoncé e l’autore del tormentone Happy, Pharrell Williams, si sono portati a casa tre premi ciascuno in quella che è la notte musicale più attesa dell’anno, quest’anno segnata da numerose uscite contro la violenza di genere e la brutalità della polizia ai danni dei neri.

Appena 22enne e barista in un locale di Londra fino ad un anno fa, Smith ha conquistato tre dei principali trofei della serata, tra cui Miglior Album Pop, Migliore Canzone dell’Anno e Migliore Nuovo Artista, e ha ringraziato l’uomo di cui si è innamorato lo scorso anno e che gli ha ispirato il mega-hit Stay with Me. Nella sorpresa generale, Beck, multistrumentista e autore-compositore cult, ha conquistato l’Album dell’Anno per la sua intimista Morning Phase.
