FIAT: MARCHIONNE, BREAK-UP GOOD FOR GROWTH & EFFICIENCY

Sergio Marchionne believes that the break-up of Fiat makes sense in terms of “growth, independence, and efficiency.” Fiat’s managing director added: “It makes no sense at all to continue to keep together sectors that have such different economic-industrial characteristics. Not only is it an idea whose day has passed; it is no longer useful useful.” Thus, “this is the right time to carry out the split. This is also because thanks to the partnership with Chrysler the car business has reached a sufficient critical mass to be able to operate independently on the market. From the industrial-financial point of view, this is the only way to the ensure optimum strategic development of each business .”
