CUBA’S FARINAS RECEIVES EP’S ‘SAKHAROV’ HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD
The European Parliament’s prestigious Sakharov human rights award goes to Cuba’s Guillermo Farinas. The Cuban dissident has conducted a total of twenty hunger strikes in all his years as an activist, the last of which – lasting a total of 4 months – in support of demands for the release of political prisoners. Farinas is the third Cuban to receive the EP award.
