Greenpeace reports that the Dalian disaster is sixty times worse than reported by the Chinese government. According to the organisation, the explosion of two gas pipelines in an oil storage facility in the port of Dalian, on 16 July, tipped between 60 thousand and 90 thousand tons of crude oil into the sea (official estimates speak of 1,500 tons).
