POWERFUL 6.5 EARTHQUAKE HITS CENTRAL CHILE

A magnitude 6,5 earthquake hit Chile’s central coastline at 10,32 Italian time. The epicentre was 99 km north west of Temuco; the hypocentre was 28 km deep. On 27th February, a huge earthquake measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale devastated the country, triggering a tsunami that killed 521 people and causing 30 billion dollars worth of damage. .
