Dream Theater: la dedica a Giuseppe Girolamo, morto nella Concordia
MILANO – La tragedia della Costa Concordia è arrivata anche sul palco del Forum di Assago, vicino a Milano: qui il cantante James LaBrie ha toccato il cuore di tanti ammiratori del gruppo metal con una dedica a Giuseppe Girolamo, 30 anni, loro fan scomparso proprio nel naufragio al largo dell’Isola del Giglio lo scorso 13 gennaio.
“Vorrei rubare un secondo del vostro tempo, per dire qualche parole, ha detto LaBrie. Circa sei settimane fa è successa una tragedia, una enorme nave da crociera chiamata Costa Concordia è affondata.(…) A bordo c’era anche un ragazzo, un grandissimo fan dei Dream Theater, un Italian Dreamer. Era il batterista della band della crociera. Questo ragazzo ha compiuto il sacrificio estremo: era già sulla scialuppa di salvataggio, ma è sceso per far posto a un bambino salvandogli la vita. E non si è fermato lì, è tornato dentro la nave per cercare di salvare altre persone. Sfortunatamente, ha perso la vita. Vogliamo ricordare questo ragazzo, Giuseppe, e vogliamo che la prossima canzone lo raggiunga, spero che tu la possa sentire da là sopra, perché hai compiuto un enorme atto di coraggio, sei veramente ammirevole.”

“I’d like to take a moment of your time and say few words. Approximately six weeks ago we had a tragedy that happened, we had a huge cruise liner, the Costa Concordia, that went down. (…) There was also a young man that was a huge Dream Theater fan, he was an Italian Dreamer, he was the drummer on the cruise liner, and this guy did the ultimate sacrifice, he was already on a liferaft, but he got off to let a child get on and saved the child. But he didn’t stop there, he went back on to the ship to try and save more people. Unfortunately, like I said, he lost his life because of this. But we want to remember this young man, Giuseppe, and we want this next song to go out to him, and I hope you’re listening up there, because this is amazing act of courage, that this guy did, very admirable.”
